Meet a Brokered Worker

Meet Rina Alarcon, who has been with CSC as a homemaker for close to two years. Rina has a contagious smile, boundless energy and a true passion for the work that she does.

Before coming to work with CSC, Rina worked for 17 years as a Personal Support Worker with ComCare. She says that while the money she was earning was great, she wanted more flexibility and freedom in her schedule.

“I make my own hours now, and this is important. I never work the weekends and take off to my cottage instead! It keeps me happy, and then I can worry about keeping my clients happy.”

“This is the best part of my job - I get to make people happy all day long!”

Rina says that another one of the great things about working as a brokered homemaker is that after awhile, you get to know your clients fairly well. “You have time to learn their habits and preferences, “ she says. “And this helps you to understand and connect with each of your clients, and really provide them with the specific help that they need.”

Indeed, Rina can connect with her clients on many levels, and also in many languages - she can speak Spanish, Italian. and Portuguese. But it is her cheerful nature and friendly conversation that really helps connect her with clients and turn cleaning and homemaking into something pretty special.

“Clients always tell me, Rina! You make me happy! You are always singing all day,” she says with a laugh. “I guess it is true, I do sing! Gets the job done!”
